Hughes Network Systems has completed the delivery, installation, and commissioning of four broadband gateways and a network control centre that will enable satellite communications company Yahsat to expand its services to parts of Africa
Hughes completed the Gateway and Service Delivery System implementation project for UAE-based Yahsat, which has cleared the way for the start of commercial service.
Hughes has transported more than 10,000 VSAT terminals to YahClick service partners based in the 28 markets across Africa and the Middle East, and will now begin its operations and maintenance portion of its agreement with Yahsat. During this phase Hughes will be responsible for managing the network operations that provides the YahClick service.
Yahsat CEO Tareq Abdul Raheem Al Hosani said, “Hughes has been a significant asset to us throughout the process of implementing YahClick.
“We look forward to bringing satellite broadband Internet to consumers and businesses across the Middle East, Southwest Asia and Africa, who have previously had limited or no access to the Internet, providing them with reliable, wide reaching and high-speed Internet connectivity.”
